Kate plays the role of Alice Paul in the film A Single Woman.
Kate graduated from the University of Iowa, summa cum laude, at age 19. Her grades won her a full scholarship to law school where she became a lawyer at 22. Kate worked for the prestigious law firm, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in L.A. and London, then left to act and write.

Kate has written and performed in many sketch and improv shows at the Groundlings, The Improv, etc. She has also done stand up comedy, voice-over animation, and award winning theatre such as John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves and Neil Simon’s Fools. She is currently in the play The Chicago Conspiracy Trial at the Odyssey Theatre about the prosecution of the Chicago 7 who had opposed the Vietnam War.
As a writer, Kate’s short story, Baby Blues, is published in the anthology “An Ear to the Ground” along with Horton Foote and Vaclav Havel. Her short film, The Areola, which she wrote, co-directed and starred, premiered on Showtime and also ran on the Sundance Channel. Most recently, Kate has been hired to adapt to the screen the George Axelrod novel Blackmailer and is finishing editing the improv pilot Two Sticks which she co-created, directed, and acted.
Kate wrote the screenplay, Fort McCoy, based upon her mother’s true story when her family lived next to a Nazi POW camp in Wisconsin during W.W.II. Kate is attached to star along with Aidan Quinn. It explores the ravages of war thousands of miles from the battle lines.
Kate has built homes for the poor with Jimmy Carter through Habitat for Humanity, has campaigned for various Democratic candidates, lead the protest in L.A. demanding a recount of the Florida votes in 2000, and is marching for peace and an end the Iraq War. Kate is proud to be a part of Kamala Lopez’s important film and to play the brave bright trailblazer Alice Paul.
